New year, new word, right?
When I picked my 2018 word, I plucked a word out of thin air. I wanted a word that I could reflect on during the year to inspire me daily and encourage my dreaming. I realized, early on, that it was more of a challenge to do something I often feared. Leap was my 2018 word.
-
LEAP into opportunities.
-
LEAP into business.
-
LEAP into faith.
-
LEAP into love.
I wanted courage to jump faster, deeper, more frequently in the new year.
For 2019, while I still desired to continue leaping in certain areas, I really wanted to be mindful of the word I selected. I wanted it to encompass all facets of my life and to be a word that wasn’t selected from a place of fear, but rather a word that aligned with the season of healing I’d done in 2018. I thought long and hard about the desires of my heart for the new year:
-
Tend to my heart more.
-
Grow in faith.
-
Plant seeds through LoveMo.
-
Invest time in a creative small business prayer group.
-
Focus on what matters.
-
Nurture deeper relationships.
-
Rest in the waiting/preparation.
-
Unearth more of my story.
I stared at these goals – Tend. Grow. Plant. Invest. Focus. Nurture. Unearth.
And then a shipment of books was delivered for some of the holiday gift boxes I was putting together for friends & family. The title of the book inside became my 2019 word of the year:
CULTIVATE.
Continued focus on my spiritual, mental, emotional and physical soil in order to prepare me for my next harvest. So fitting.
What’s your word for 2019? And more importantly, how do you determine your word?
